By the end of the session learners will be able to:
- State the legislation that applies to handling and control of medicines within care environment
- Identify the difference between POMs and NON-POMs
- State who is able to administer medicines to a service user and under what circumstances
- Describe storage facilities applicable to medicines in the care home
- Discuss strategies for maintaining correct administration and documentation
- State actions to take if a service user refuses medication
- Explain actions to take should an error in administration occur
- Describe actions taken with medicines of deceased service users or if they leave a care home
